While the company used to have a more predictable schedule of when farmers would source product, these days the deliveries seem non-stop. There are two prime busy seasons for Keg River: Late February until May Long Weekend and again between late August until early December. The fall has quickly become a popular option for a fall top-up (even on light snow) to prevent more work in the spring, or gives more room for seed blends, or for fall-seeded crops, too. Outside of peak periods, customers can take advantage of enticing fill programs.

Premium products, premium results

The clay used at Keg River is of the highest quality. Superior bentonite clay disintegrates sulfur pastilles into smaller sulfur particles – essential in optimizing sulfur contact with the soil, to maximize short-term conversion to plant available sulfate.

Keg River was the first to offer 85% Keg85S (previously known as Supreme 85), containing 50% more clay than 0-0-0-90 products. This innovation improved both handling and agronomic characteristics. Keg85S and original Keg90S (previously known as NutraSul 90) are also available in organic listed SKUs (OMRI in the USA, Pro-Cert in Canada). Keg50S+ is a mechanical blend (analysis 12-0-0-50S) of Keg90S and ammonium sulfate that provides immediate SO4 from the AMS, and season-long SO4 release from elemental sulfur oxidation.

Plant expansion, greater customer service

Interest continues to grow annually and this past year was no exception. To keep up with farmer demand, the company decided to expand its manufacturing plant by an additional 25 per cent capacity, by adding an entire organic manufacturing side separate from the main plant. Overall, it’s an increase from four machines to six. Greater resources have gone into removing even more dust from finished products, resulting in a cleaner, healthier product for farms. More planned off-site storage will also relieve pressure in busy times and improve customer service.
